RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Research and development is the keystone to Metquip success in the past and growth in the future. It plays a vital and important role in the continuous development and upgrading of existing products, new products and techniques.
Metquip believes that their technology used to develop a new spiral, with a constant pitch and even profile in a short space of time, is unique.
During 1988 the company received a South African Industrial Design Award for the development of an Alumina Ceramic pump impeller for use in slurry pumps as a wear resistant unit.
A spiral test facility is available for pilot scale test-work, as well as evaluation of mineral and coal samples.
Metquip operates from its own premises in Rosslyn, near Pretoria, in a factory of 1850 square metres. A fully equipped toolroom and the necessary skill is used to produce all the moulds, dies and jigs for the manufacture of all products.
The factory is equipped with an overhead crane, polyurethane moulding facility, polyurethane spray booth, GRP lamination facility, steel fabrication equipment and vehicles which are all used in the manufacturing process.
Metquip has a stable workforce resulting in long service records and a considerable amount of depth among these employees.
Metquip is in the process of implementing the ISO 9002 quality control system.
